Worksession Notifier — Update Alerts for Rhino

Hi everyone,

I built Worksession Notifier to help users notice changes to attached reference files without opening the Worksession panel.

When a colleague saves a change to a reference file, a popup gives you two choices:

  • Refresh references — reload changed references now.
  • Later — continue working with the currently loaded geometry.

Changes are detected automatically. You decide when to refresh.

The popup does not steal focus or automatically reload your model. It groups multiple changed files, and dismissing an alert does not repeatedly notify you about the same saved version. Use WSNotifyShow to reopen pending notifications.

Installation

In Rhino, run PackageManager, enable Include pre-releases, search for worksession-notifier, and install. Restart Rhino and run WSNotifyStatus.

Compatibility and behavior

This is a free public beta for Rhino 8 on Windows, running .NET 8, tested on Rhino 8.35. Source code is not published.

Alerts typically appear 15–30 seconds after a stable saved change becomes visible locally. Network delays, cloud synchronization, and active Rhino commands can increase this time. Changes made before monitoring starts are not reported.

Refresh uses Rhino’s Worksession Refresh operation across changed references in the current Worksession, rather than only the files listed in the popup.

I would appreciate feedback on notification timing, shared-folder workflows, and whether the Refresh / Later choice fits your daily work.

Please report issues on GitHub, including your Rhino version, storage type, and steps to reproduce the problem.

Thanks!
