Working in Layouts is getting constantly worse

We’re getting more and more problems in layouts. First, there is the known issue that objects behind transparent materials disappear randomly. Then working in layout is getting constantly slower while adding viewports, especially adding clipping plane views slows down the performance. Editing text and dimensions has always a delay, which is getting worse in more complex layouts. This happens on midrange computers, but also on very fast workstations. No difference is noticeable. In the last months, there is the phenomenon that surfaces in the viewports are suddenly displayed black or white, although they have still the correct color in the model view. Working in the layouts becomes more and more difficult since the last updates until it is not usable. Is an update planned that fixes these issues?

if you go to tools>options>plugins>plugins that do not ship with rhino temporarily disable enscape and vray, does it get better?

Hi,

disabling the Plugins does not change anything. It seems to be connected to the property bar.
If the property bar is not open everything goes smooth. But if the Bar is open it takes 2-3sec to update the property window when a text/annotation is clicked, same after unselecting. Only moving the text takes 4-6sec with open property bar.

Hi @barrento,

Can you share a 3dm file that you feel is “slow”? If so, then also provide instructions on how to repeat the “slowness”.

Thanks,

– Dale

I found out that it helps to minimise the number of activated fonts in the Windows folder. However, this is a bit inconvenient because as a designer you need many fonts and switching them on and off creates extra work. Now it is not completely smooth, but a lot better. However when the property bar is open, there is still a delay and its getting worse when more viewports and annotations are used in the Layoutview. This happens in every file we create.
