WISH: Occluded Object Select

Love the new option to disable snapping to occluded objects, but would like to see it taken just one step further… Don’t SELECT occluded objects by single mouse click. Marquis and all other selections would work normally, but you couldn’t select an edge or other feature by direct mouse click if in a display mode that the object is not visible. Just a thought. Would be very helpful to me right now. Thank you.

Hi Brian - I find it pretty hard to select through a surface in a shaded view - do you find this happens a lot?

Constantly. If I do a MoveEdge and rectangle a couple of edges, it selects everything behind it too, even in rendered / shaded view.

Ah, so windowing, yes, somehow I thought you were clicking as well and getting this.

I get it when single-clicking also if the occluded edge is near the line of sight. I was just giving an example with the windowing. I’m hoping that in a future version a user is unable to select anything that can’t be seen in rendered or shaded mode.

I have the same problem in Rhino 7.28. When I try to select a surface by left-clicking it in Shaded display mode, more often than not, Selection Menu (shown below) appears because I clicked on a surface that is in front of other surfaces. Can I configure Rhino in such a way that Rhino ignores occluded (hidden) objects?

Hi Andrew, I don’t see that here, are you using a stock Shaded display mode?
If so, can you provide _SystemInfo?
