Hi @fsalla
Could you theoretically import just the data with out making it parametric?
Having a “dumb” importer would be a huge timesaver for us as we don’t need to adjust anything. I understand that this is a nice area of course, but most architects need to import IFC’s from many partners that they will only view and not manipulate, so we cross our fingers!
Converting IFC geometry representations directly into Rhino geometry representations is what the Geometry Gym IFC importer plugin for rhino does if you wish to test it.
Thanks, that’s interesting!
Are you Jon Mirtchin, one of the developers?
If so, what is the price? I could not find it on the page https://geometrygym.wordpress.com/purchase/
We are testing VisualArq and like the railing tool, it’s is the only tools we need besides the IFC import/export. I made a custom script that opens the IFC, meshes with custom setting and join those based on layer and color, and exports automatically to a Rhino file so we can reference it into our projects. (We can’t have massive, original files from all partners, with all the blocks etc, and still maintain a good framrate for modelling if we don’t do that)
