WIP Mac Issues Report

noticed this since a few recent updates:

1.when rotating, and press Shift to activate Ortho, the Snaps Guide Ticks used to show up perfectly aligned to CPlane. Now, seems like the alignment is calculated from the point where initial mouse click was while rotating using the gumball. (tried changing every possible options under Snaps, but didn’t help)

  2. changing Thumbnail Icon size in the File Explorer is broken (was fixed briefly)

  3. Grasshopper: mouse click selecting component from the pop-up list doesn’t work. currently have to scroll to selection with arrow keys

This happens also in Win version. I think is related to the new Gumball behavior. Probably they broken smtg while changing it.

The gumball rotation issue is logged as

RH-96968 gumball ortho alignment ticks are off

@yelenaye FYI, this issue is closed and set to ‘won’t fix’
The behavior is dependent on Gumball Smooth or Snappy and this hasn’t changed (same in Rhino 7 and 8)

is there a way to turn of the ticks? (since they don’t serve any purpose)

The ticks cannot be turned off.

They serve at least three purposes:

Show that ortho is active
Show if you have standard 90 degree ticks or more
Show approximately where you need to land with your mouse cursor to get the angle you are after.

I guess the ‘Approximation landing spot’ is what makes it confusing to use:

in this example below, (at 30 degrees snap), you can’t tell or rely on which tick

you should be looking at.

if the ticks align perfectly to the current Cplane, would be amazing, but oh well :sweat_smile:

@yelenaye yeah they are aligning to your mouse down point. For orthogonal alignment, switch to snappy dragging.
