Wave Fading Effect

found this super cool definition, is it possible to make the waves fade towards the edges of the surface?

Linear instead of circular? Yes, you can do that - or just make the radius very large. This thread (and others) get into it:

I meant, I would like the wave to fade from the point where it is generated towards the outer edges, leaving them straight
