I currently have Rhino 5 and I am looking to download a trial of VRay. Can you tell me if VRay is compatible with the Rhino version I am using?

Yes, it is available for Rhino 5 and 6. (Rhino 5 was available as 32bit? VfR next is for the 64bit version.)
