Visual Arq Grasshopper Custom Railing from existing profiles

Hi, would really appreciate if can help. May I ask how to create “customized” Visual Arq Railings from the existing profiles from Grasshopper ? The components are turning Red. For example, Visual Arq GH components have I-Beam, Rectangular Profile, etc… But how to use them to “customize” railings in Grasshopper ? Are the use of “Profiles” Component in Visual Arq GH only limited to Column ad Beams ?

Would really appreciate if can help, thanks.

Hi @lokezhiming,

I see in the screenshot that you are creating hollow profiles. Currently, only “Rectangular”, “Circular” and custom “Curve” profiles can be used for balusters, posts, and railings.

Alright, noted thanks. Is it possible to use other profiles ? Like I-profiles, T-profiles, and etc for balusters, posts, and railings ?

Hi @lokezhiming,

Currently no, sorry. But I have created an issue on our bug tracker, and we’ll allow all profiles for balusters, posts, and rails in VisualARQ 2.12.

Enric

Alright noted, thanks very much. Do appreciate it. By the way, also may I ask if there is a page where I can check out what will be the upcoming feature releases ? As am looking forward to features such as wall and slab joints, generating dimensions automatically, and etc.

Hi @lokezhiming,

No, sorry, there isn’t a public web page to check the roadmap, although we’ve discussed creating one.

  • “Wall-slab joins” is a planned feature for VisualARQ 3.

  • “Automatic dimensions” is a planned feature for VisualARQ 4. We used to have an automatic dimension tool in VisualARQ 1. Still, it was elementary, had some problems, and it was not compatible with some features of VisualARQ 2, so we decided to remove it.

Thanks, may I ask the anticipated release date ?

Sorry, there is no planned release date.

Hi @lokezhiming , we have just released a new version of VisualARQ (2.12) which allows the use of structural profiles in railing styles.

You can check here the news of the new version: VisualARQ 2 - Version 2.12 released

Enjoy!

Dear Mr. Alfonso,

Thanks for getting back, do appreciate it. Looking forward to the features and updates.

Thanks,
