Video editing software recommendations?

I got a 3d modelling timelapse project going on with obs that i need to stitch together and cut some parts out does anyone know a good simple video editing software?

I get ai answers from google and they all look a bit suspicious

Last time I used one on my pc was windows movie maker so I’m out of touch with these things

It’s for my YouTube channel I’m trying to setup a flow that works for me

I’m using Shotcut

DaVinci resolve if you want a bit more options but it is maybe a bit much for simple editing. There is a free version available.

Yeah +1 for Resolve - the free version lacks for little, you only pay for some advanced stuff.

Have been using it for compositing timelapses from stills - there’s a mild learning curve but once you’ve absorbed the workflow it’s a very direct process. You can ignore all the color grading and nodal editing stuff - but it’s there if you want to get deep.

Hi @CADARTZ

I’d jump into Davinci resolve. They have a free version that’s pretty incredible only a few things are pro version only and that’s I think around 300 not bad for their pro version. You could go adobe but that’s more money and then you need both premiere and afterfx.

I do a lot of compositing and editing work in Davinci the sound editor is really nice ships with a free sound library. Also it’s the standard for color grading.

It’s simple to use you just load your clips images, image sequences and or movie files into a timeline and drag and drop arrange and cut you can have multiple files per time line and place them where you want.

100% Blackmagic’s Resolve.

I saw that one but it kept asking for alot of information Like name, email then asking me how i will use it etc.. so I said nope

using it to earn money is no issue I presume? I want something I can stick with for the flow

I will have a look at this one thnx

Hi @CADARTZ

They are not trying to entrap you they want to know so they can make their program better. Many top companies are now charging based on income, a few programs do this like Unreal and Houdini. I understand your concerns in this case and that’s an individuals choice.

Good to know i dl shotcut first and seems to work fine and easy to use for the project

I’ll give davinci a try next video project it looks very nice on the tutorials

It’s just when things are “free” your info is the product they make money from

That’s almost universally true in the present era - and you’re right to be wary. In the case of Resolve it’s a bit unique, because they are owned by Blackmagic which is a hardware company that makes the video cameras as well as control surfaces for editing suites, so in a sense the software is an enticement to enter into their hardware ecosystem - it’s not (as far as I know) harvesting data or doing any cloud funny-business.

You can also use Blender’s video editor if you’re not happy with Davinci. Relatively simple and fully free.
