V8 UV unwrap bug?

I’ve pretty much given up on useing V8 for aything to do with UVs or textures for now. It obviously need lots of tuning up.
I foolishly thought I’d see if things had improved with the latest Release candidate, but no joy.

In the attached is a simple mesh, with no UV unwrapping seams.
If unwrapped in V7 it behaves fine.
If unwrapped in V8, the UV Editor shows things correctly, but the texture is all over the place.

Hope that helps with the tuning up.

Steve

Thanks Charles,

That’s a great solution and certainly works, but I have to confess I’m not sure why it works.

Is it a bug or am I doing something that confuses mapping somehow?

Steve

Hi @Steve_Howden ,

Thanks for the report, I’ve filed the bug as https://mcneel.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/RH-79784

The workaround appears to be to give the mesh a primitive mapping method like Box first and then perform the custom Unwrap on it. This works here with this model but it definitely looks like a bug to me too and will need fixing.
