V7 missing "No environment" item in 360° Environment dropdowns

Not sure when this started, or if there’s some magical way I don’t know for getting it back, but 360° Environment drop-downs in my v7 (7.0.20224.11375) are missing the “No environment” item that is present in v6:

I see that…it may be intentional as the new rendered mode stuff works much better with an environment.

the fix? you can simply delete the default environment and get no environment.

If it’s intentional and will stay this way, then I’d suggest adding a “delete” item to the context menu for the items in that drop-down, so you don’t have to switch over to the Environments panel to get the job done.

That said I think the v6 way is superior, for three reasons:

  • it is easy to understand and lends itself to self-discovery by being explicit
  • maybe you put a good deal of work into your (possibly several) environments, and don’t want to delete them all, just to be able to render without environment
  • deleting all environments is not actually a workable alternative, since you may for instance wish to render with some environment in illum/refl/refr, but not background

Good points all- I’ll discus with the devs and see if I can untangle how that decision got made.

Thanks!

@jdhill I’m pretty sure this was an oversight on my part. The ‘No Environment’ will be back in the next WIP.
