I have a Rhino V6 file that I created last year that has a bunch of mechanical parts as a beginning drafting exercise. It has like 12 layouts, but in the file below I removed all but the first one.
Now I am adding some more examples to it, so I thought I would do it in V7. I opened the file in V7, saved it under a new name and continued to work.
Now, what I see is that the linetype scale is not the same between the V6 and the V7 version. I thought surely that that must not have crossed over when I opened the file in V7, but no, it’s exactly the same (4.0).
Check out the centerline - here’s V6:
Now, the same file in V7:
The centerline looks continuous, but it’s not, it’s just a much smaller scale.
Now in V6, when I change the linetype scale, if I am in a layout without a detail active, nothing appears to change (that is already buggy IMO). If I activate the detail, or go to a non-layout view, the linetype scale then changes.
In V7, I can’t seem to change it all…
Below are both files - maybe someone can tell me what setting I’m missing. Must be something stupid.
In both files:
- The centerlines have the center linetype, assigned by layer as well as by object.
- The linetype scale is set at millimeters, 4.0.
- Model space scaling is enabled.
- Layout space scaling is disabled.

EDIT: OK, NOW I FIGURED IT OUT…
It was the @#^&^! PrintDisplay… It has a setting LayoutLinetpyes On/Off
, when set to on, it in fact overrides the Layout scaling checkbox in DocumentProperties. Nice trap to fall into.
