How do I reinstate all my custom buttons in V5 64 bit ?
no doubt some .rui or user settings some where to do so.
toolbar rui or Toolbar.lifebelt.fix !!!
I have done an OptionsMigrate V8 to V9, and now V5 has lost all my buttons.
I am lost without them.
try a reboot of PC etc, still missing.
HELP !
Unable to work, use them a lot.

I have found a thread where I lost all my custom buttons, maybe I never put them back, Thread was May, a lot going on, attic drawing shelves and air con routing, didnt need them.
Normally mesh work does, and about to get back to that, as behind schedule massively.
and now can’t work.
I have searched my system for .rui and dont see anything for V5 in recent months, last was 2022.
Gijs says Rhino7 .rui should be ok for V5.
I have two more buttons in V8 than in V7.
would V8 also be compatible or not ?

So you are saying that you did a optionsmigrage Rhino 8 > Rhino 9 and after that you started Rhino 5 and your custom buttons were gone?
OptionsMigrate will not mess with your Rhino 5 .rui files.
Up to Rhino 7 we are using pixel based icons
Rhino 8 and WIP are using Vector icons.
So compatibility is limited. You can still migrate pixel based to the newer versions, and (where possible) Rhino will update them to vector based icons.
If you reference the same RUI in v5 as in v8/v9 and the RUI saves it will save as a new RUI and won’t load in Rhino 5. Rhino 8/9 are not compatible with v7.
@Steve1 your RUI should have a .rui_bak next to it or .rui.bak that should be your original v5 RUI.

The OptionsMigrate didnt kill them.
However any .rui for V5 will be for a custom button less toolbar now, will it not ?
But as I have them in V7, I could use the V7 .rui to repair V5.
What are the steps please.

So V8 is now vector buttons. My V8 has a complete line up of custom buttons, yet I didnt redraw them.
Why didnt the OptionsMigrate work from V8 to V9 ?

That’s correct, pixelated buttons won’t be converted if no equivalent button exists to replace it.
But as I have them in V7, I could use the V7 .rui to repair V5.

The .rui format of Rhino 7 for Windows is identical to the .rui of Rhino 5,
So all you need to do is open the Rhino 7 .rui in Rhino 5:
your .rui files in Rhino 7 are located here:
%appdata%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\UI
your .rui files in Rhino 5 are located here:
%appdata%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\5.0\UI
So if you are using default.rui in both Rhino 5 and 7, first rename default.rui in that Rhino 5 folder to something like default-old.rui and then copy the default.rui from your Rhino 7 folder to the Rhino 5 folder

FANTASTIC,
got my buttons back, now I see I don’t have the ApparentIntersectionsAllViews one I use a lot.
Its in V8, but wasn’t in V7, yet I had been using it in V5.
So how do I get that one from V8 to V5 ?
as V8 is vector based and V5 is raster, I can’t take the V8 .rui across, as already been told not to do that.
I presume I will have to hand craft it all over again, but is there a way of seeing what its code is and a larger image to recreate as Right Click on it reveals no option like edit button or anything.
How does one make a button ? step 1 is
right click grey area and new button then , do I choose inherit, or.. image ..or.. text ..or.. both text and image ?
I also have a grey disc to left of that one, once upon a time it was a button, how do I find out what it was and resurrect it ?
