V9 WIP
Reading up on V5 into V7 then V7 into V8, and what went right and wrong !
Its best I ask about taking V8 custom buttons into V9 WIP !
Please what are the steps, written out as 1 2 3 4 5 etc to get my custom buttons on V8 standard toolbar into V9 WIP from V8 ?
No doubt this will prove useful to others as well.

_OptionMigrate should be the command

Launch v9
run OptionsMigrate
choose previous version, choose rhino 8
rhino is migrating your data, green bar full width
4 mins later its still showing this, click next and get a ding ding,
so guess I need to wait, but 4 mins is surely long enough.
look like its failed.
click top right and a new window ‘settings migrated successfully’.
restart rhino it says.
Do so and see it only created 2.
Look at V8 and show what should have occurred.
but then open V5 and they have all gone. OMG.
How do I get them back in V5, new post for that one as may be of use to others.
and what about V9 ?

I think it’d be best if I try to perform your migration myself. Can you run TestOptionsExport in Rhino 8 and upload the .rhs confidentially here and I’ll try it out myself.

Here we are 1 month later, and needing to reinstall wip9.
run wip and it says need download latest, do that, then _optionsMigrate
choose data previous version v8
ok and wait and wait, and full length green line, and nothing ding ding if click anything.

aha its eventually done so,
then it says an update exists though I just dl the latest, so run that as well.
have I got all my custom buttons.
lets reboot pc and find out
all my custom buttons are ? on circles, so do the Migrate thing again, and wait and wait.
and now its done says reboot rhino, I save the untilted file anyway, reboot rhno
and the custom buttons are not there just discs with ? on each one.
so what went wrong ?..again…
so I am doing that TestOptionsExport rhino8 thing Callum.

Can you show me a screenshot of your Rhino 8 interface? When using these settings I get a load of (?) in 8 as well.
