V-Ray sun extremely dark!

Hey all!

Following the LinkedIn Learning V Ray Render tutorial and I am concerned why my sun is much darker compared to the one in the video, if you notice the sun gets extremely dark near the bottom. Please see the attached image. The sun in skylight and background are both set to sun light rather than rhino document sun. Thanks!

in the original video which sunlight is set to the skylight and the background: the Rhino document sun or your custom sunlight ?

It was custom sunlight which I followed. I experimented with both just Background and GI on and reflection refraction on and off. Same results. Also please check this image out too! I have no idea why my renders come out so dark and black. I copied everything from the video.

Have you tried adjusting the camera settings ? —Mark

It is either camera exposure, sun intensity or skylight texture setup. Or the video is for an older version…
rhinocubed3 Which is the exact title of the video you watched? I’ll try to find it out.

Adjusting the ISO did help but the background still remains dark, the ISO changing for the interior didn’t change anything.

Maybe sun intensity. Where would I find that? I think it could also be the skylight texture setup. This video is for an older version of V-Ray, V-Ray 2.0 and the videos are linked here

The whole section on lights was a bit difficult to replicate the exact look. Let me know how it goes for you

so it is Rhino 5 with V-Ray 2.0. This is no longer supported. I see the shutter speed of the camera is different in the range of 2000, while the standard is 100.

So you need to verify all of the above. The texSky’s sun parameter, the Sun’s intensity and the camera’s shutterspeed parameters.
