Hello everyone,

We wanted to share some exciting news and give a heads-up to the whole V-Ray for Rhino community gathered here.
We understand you are expecting some improvements and new features for V-Ray for Rhino and are happy to announce that the new V-Ray 3.6 for Rhino will be coming out at the end of January-2018.

Here is a sneak-peek on what we have prepared for you in the latest version:

ADAPTIVE LIGHTS
In scenes with many lights, the new Adaptive Lights mode can help you speed up render times by up to 700%.

STREAMLINED UI
The entire V-Ray for Rhino interface has been updated and streamlined for a more intuitive, user- friendly workflow.

HYBRID GPU+CPU RENDERING
V-Ray GPU running on NVIDIA CUDA can take full advantage of all available hardware, including CPUs and GPUs.

V-RAY SCENE IMPORT
Import and render V-Ray scenes (.vrscene) from other applications such as 3ds Max, SketchUp, and Revit.

FILE MANAGER
Manage all your scene files in one place. Set file paths, create scene archives, and keep track of assets like textures, IES files, and proxy objects.

ANIMATIONS
V-Ray 3.6 for Rhino introduces a new simplified workflow for rendering light studies, turntables and fly-through animations.

THAT’S NOT ALL…
The full feature list will be shared with all of you on the release date.

We do not foresee any changes to the current end-user upgrade prices announced on our website. And as usual, the upgrade for all V-Ray for Rhino 3.x license holders will be FREE.

Hi Peter,
With Rhino 6 already out, is V-Ray for R6 on its way? Will the current licence still apply?

Cheers,
Jonas

Also interested to know if we will be able to run V-Ray 3.6 in both R5 and R6 versions - on the same machine of course?

Hello,

We expect to have a V-Ray 3.6 build for Rhino 6 released a week or two after the R6 commercial release and its public announcement (which according to our understanding hasn’t happened yet).

The v3.6 update is free for all existing v3.4 users.
The V-Ray 3 for Rhino licenses will apply to both builds for Rhino 5 and Rhino 6. As usual, it will be possible to run multiple instances of V-Ray for Rhino on a single computer (engaged licenses are counter per machine).

Kind regards,

That’s great, thank you Peter.

R6 is commercially available now: https://www.rhino3d.com/6

McNeel are starting to release R6 updates to their own plugins, such as Bongo2.

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for this update to 3.60.02

Seems to be working very well initially, and the GPU engine performance is fantastic!
