I was trying to find out the use of the plane fit component. Why does it create a plane somewhere else instead of creating it in the centre of the polygon?
One has to move the average plane away separately.

Use change origin of plane.
It comes from plane fit algorithm, that computes plane orientation, not origin.
I always use this in NGon plugin, because I also had issues with adjusting always the origin:
Yes, since a plane is infinite, its location is arbitrary. I can see the argument for making it always relocate to the average as standard though.
