Hi, I currently hold an educational license for rhino v7 which I purchased when in uni. I am now not a student anymore but want to upgrade to a commercial Rhino v8 license. Does this mean I can pay the regular commercial upgrade fee or do I have to buy a completely new license for v8? Thanks.

Short answer: you can upgrade student to pro.
Slightly longer answer:
Rhino - Buy - Rhinoceros (rhino3d.com)
has a link on the upgrade section (words ‘any older version’) that looks like it should specifically check your license once you log in.
You pay the commerical upgrade fee and receive a commercial license.
