Upgrading to latest SR fails - newer Version already installed

Hi,

trying to update my RH8 to the latest SR, I get a “A newer version of the Rhino Installer Engine is already installed” msg box during install. I click it away, a couple of cmd windows flash and in the end I get the following error message telling me installation failed:

rhiexec.msi - 2147023293

Trying to use the option to download the package beforehand (cogwheel → download package for offline install) quits, claiming I have no internet connection (while writing this post and downloading files).

Here is the log:

Uninstalling and re-installing produces the same results. RH8 worked flawless before.

Thanks to Giuseppe Massoni (tech support) I have solved the problem above. It depends on some Windows Updating issue, however here some useful tips: Error code 1603: https://wiki.mcneel.com/it/rhino/6/install/error/1603 solved by Microsoft’s Fix to avoid this screen errors run Microsoft’s Fix and remove this three: Rhino6; Rhino Engine Installer; Rhino Language Pack: [2] [2] [3] In my case it worked.

Hi Japhy,

none of this helps. The windows troubleshooting is not working on win11, I have updated my windows to the latest version and have a working install of the net4.8 runtime. Nothing helped.

What solved it was me misreading one of the threads linked in the first reply of your first link, eventually leading to me uninstalling Rhino WIP. That should be a bug, it should not cause an issue having WIP installed.
