Hi. This is really annoying - Rhino crashes all the time, sometimes in grasshopper, sometimes by itself, during operations like show or unlock or dimension. I’ve moved the geometry to another file, same problem.
Version 5 SR11 64-bit
(5.11.50226.17195, 2/26/2015) Commercial
There seems to be no pattern to the crashes.
I must have submitted at least 30 reports via the automated system.
I got an email relating the problem to some old plugin I had installed, so I disabled it and the crashes kept coming.
I’ve got a lot riding on this, please help me as soon as possible. I’ve checked the “send file with error report as well”. Upon request, I can also upload the file here.
Hi Andrei- the thing to try first is to disable plug-ins and see if things work better - then re-enable one at a time to see which one causes the problem. Plug-ins are controlled in Options > Plug-ins page, restart Rhino in between un-checking the plug-ins. I would start with the plug-ins filtered under ‘Plug-ins that do not ship with Rhino’. You might also update your video card (what card?)
i’ve done that, deactivated this old rhino nest i had. The last crashes were when I used FabTools in Grasshopper, the advanced bake component, so i removed it from my definition. However I don’t think it’s a GH issue necessarily, since the crashes also happened when in Rhino only.
A week ago, I was getting crashes when doing basic stuff in Rhino (no GH), i am now using 5 min autosave until this clears.
My video card is a GeForce 750m, I’m on an Asus N550jv laptop running Windows 8.
nope. the problem is that the crashes are unpredictable - for now they’ve stopped. That is, since this afternoon when I last wrote. I’ve replaced the GH advanced bake in fab-tools with the one in Human (formerly HDT utilities) and it seems to be working fine for now. No rhino-only crashes either, but I’ve been working in GH so I can’t tell if this is final.
I’ll post more details when it happens again. Thanks for all the help, hopefully this is the end of it, but I wouldn’t count on it.
