I was trying to add a granite texture to the polysurface but it is not showing, I tried to turn the object to a mesh but it is still the same, what could have gone wrong?
Hi Hiu Lam -
A picture might not be telling us enough and it’d be better if you post a 3dm file.
That said, are the following plug-ins both enabled and loaded?
-wim
I am having the same problem, i have all the plugins turned on but for some reason “Renderer Development Kit UI” doesn’t even seem to exist in my plug in manager tab.. what do i do?
You can do a repair install. Go to Add or Remove Programs>Rhino>Modify>Repair
Where do i find the “add or remove programs” to start this process?
I typically search in the Windows start
Ah okay.. I am on a mac, any guidance?
Please Run SystemInfo in your Rhino command line and post the result. Thanks

Okay i thought so! Maybe that isn’t the problem then. I am trying to get a rock like texture by adding the granite displacement texture but it doesn’t appear like its showing up.. it says the displacement is complete but i dont see it. is there a way to enhance the amount of texture? Maybe i can add more and i will see it?
Okay wait i do see something now! But see it is very very faint.. I want a very obvious and jadded texture.. how should i do this?
Are you doing a bump or mesh displacement? Displacement requires a denser mesh, here is a recent post on getting more of a bump.
I am not sure what i should be using, but i haven’t altered any meshes.. apologies I am very new to rhino and modelling in general. I realize i should probably increase the amount of mesh then? but i am unsure how
Here is an example of doing a Texture mesh displacement. A lot depends on what you are trying to do. The bump map is going to be more efficient in most scenarios.
I will look at the file you provided. For reference this is the texture i am trying to create. I adjusted the bump strength up to 400 and the distance to 5 and nothing happened.
The above displacement file will be helpful then.
Here is a Bump Texture example
