I am trying to create a GH definition based on the attached image of square openings on a grid that scale up from bottom to top, but can not figure out a few issues listed below:

How do I rotate the squares 45 degrees at each center point instead of from point 0,0,0?

The points along the perimeter are not necessary. Can these be deleted?

Although not very important, I would prefer to be able to adjust the square sizes in inches where smallest could be 1" wide and largest 3" wide.
