Trying to get 1/4" Scale on Layout (mac user)

Hi all!

I am new to rhino and a mac user. I need my scale to be 1’-0"=1/4" on my layout sheet, however, it does not seem to give me the right scale conversion on the layout using the viewport properties panel.

I have my layout set to inches and model set to feet, but the layout column always has 1’-0" on it. I want 1’-0" in my model to equal 1/4" in my layout. However, typing these values in each column on the properties panel does not work. Any suggestions for accomplishing this would be very helpful!

Best,
Micaela

Hi Micaela,

Did you get it figured out?

Select the Detail Viewport and change the values like so. (you can also enter in .25 / 12)

I see, so do I need to set my model to inches instead of feet? Will it not allow me to just keep the model in feet and enter 1’-0” for model 1/4” for the layout?

The page units are still in inches, but the model units would be in feet (you can still type in 12" if need be)

So what is the way that rhino reads 1’-0" = 1/4" if I want 1’ of model space to equal 1/4" on the page? Like what exactly should that look like for how rhino will read the numbers?

That is going to depend on your File Units.

The Layout is page itself (the paper space) isn’t scaled, so if set to inches in layout, inches on page is always going to be 1" to 1".

You can change either value to set the Scale.

In the case of a 1/4" Scale Viewport the ratio is 1/48 (.25" / 12") or 1" to 4’.

Thank you so much for your help! I got it
