Trim not working as expected

Hello, I am using Rhino to generate unrolled shapes that I can then laser cut to produce physical models out of chipboard.

I am trying to use Trim to cut out the intersecting curve (created by the cylinder) from the truncated cone, but when I select the cylinder as the cutting object, and the cone as the object to be cut, I am left with just the overlapping piece and cylinder, while the cone disappears. I have also used Intersect to isolate just the curve where the two overlap, and then attempted to trim using that curve, but this also does not result in a cone with the curve cut out of it. I have successfully done this in the past as shown the attached image, but have not been able to replicate it.

My file is also attached for reference.

Hey Brenda, the tube is an extrusion.. explode it back to a surface and try your trim again..

it’s working here when I do that.

Thanks Kyle, that worked!

sweet-

fwiw, you may want to toggle extrusions off unless you need them for some specific reason-

useextrusions = polysurface

happy modeling!
