Is it possible to get a raytrace render with a transparent background? I’m saving the image with Capture Viewport to File, using the Transparent Background option, and save it as a .png file.
That’s helpful. I hadn’t tried it with the shadows only option. I was trying to do it with the default ground plane material. Is it possible to do with an actual ground plane, or only with the shadows only option?
Here is my _SystemInfo

Well if you have an “actual” ground plane, then that’s going to be “visible” in the alpha channel., since it’s actually there. What are you trying to do?
As @JimCarruthers says, with a groundplane is set to have a material it will show up. Only with shadows-only GP and without it completely you’ll be able to get the transparent background.
Thank you for the replies, both of you. The environments were making my renderings look extra dark when the groundplane was set to shadows only, but I see that it doesn’t affect the image when it’s saved with a transparent background.
