just opened rhino for the first time on a new computer in my ‘zoo’ and all the toolbars are flickering and the viewports have this weird icon in them. ideas?

Please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and copy/paste the results here.

Maybe a “gaming” display sharing tool like nVidia’s “Experience” thing. It’s of no use in Rhino if that’s what it is.
Yup. That what it is. It looks like the “Experience” instant reply widget is disabled.
I’d recommend uninstalling the GeForce “experience” tools entirely.
