I like to draw, I have a series of interesting (in the eye of the beholder) drawings. These typically start with a bunch of shapes that gradually grow into scenes with funny beings.
In this topic I’ll be recreating The Racer in 3D. One of the goals is to put Raytraced through its paces while modelling. So far it has been stable, I’m on the lookout for performance problems that would make using Raytraced all the time unbearable.
This topic I’ll be posting updates with any good renderings replaced at the top of this post.
This is very early blocking of the model, basically just the main forms, and trying to figure out how to make this drawing in 3D. I am not sure if all of the things I do translate that well into 3D, but we’ll see.
The render and processing of the video upload has finally finished, so first recording session is up. I have often two Raytraced viewports running, both set to 4 samples. I am using an internal build, which is going to be Rhino 8.4 eventually. Anyway, this build has denoising built-in, so it makes quite nice and quick results in the viewport.
Trying to add the eye ran into a bit of a trouble. I made two mistakes: 1) incorrect orientation compared to when I created the definition, and 2) wrong scale, definition was made in a mm model, the Race Driver is being created in a meter model.
