Text dot behind objects?

Hi,

Is it possible to make the text dot hide behind objects? Now they show in front like in Xray mode.

Thanks!

+1.
i have an ugly hack for this which involves:

  1. Creating a sphere at the position of each dot
  2. Making dots visible only at the positions of visible spheres
  3. Deleting the sphere.

thanks,

Hey, could you pls share how you make the dots visible only when the spheres are visible? Thanks

Interesting!

Yes if I remember correctly it is something like create one sphere per text dot, giving it the same name as the text dot then unselect everything, select all visible spheres, collect the names of all the spheres and make only those text dots visible

ah ok, but then you’d have to keep going through the same process whenever you rotate the model right? I mean, if you have heaps of texts all around your model, they won’t show/hide automatically as you rotate your model, is that it?

Ideally Rhino would do this automatically as it used to do. With both Rhino and Grasshopper textdots.

Maybe they just need to bring back Bump Preview…

oh mate, if rhino could do it automatically that would be awesome! Maybe by adding a check box option for occluded text or something.

That used to work in the past at leasst for Grasshopper content

Yes that is as far as I got with it. I imagine it would be possible to look for rotation events and rerun but I have not investigated… The results for me were mixed - sometimes obviously hidden dots appeared whilst obviously visible ones did not,
