Switching from acad…. Need dimension help

Hello. I’m trying to transition from acad to Rhino. We manufacture curved glass, obviously drawing 2d and 3d curves is a very important. I can’t for the life of me determine how to dimension an arc length. There is a curve length dimension command which shows the arc length but it’s showing it off to the side, I would like to see the arc length dimension follow the arc length.

I’m sure it’s a simple procedure but I’ve spent a lot of time searching for a solution

I would like to see dimensions like the picture below.

You can use the fx (TextFields) button in the dimension properties panel, and after that select CurveLength from the left side.

If you want to be more like the original picture that you posted, just offset the arc and put a text object into the new resulted arc with Fx set to Curve text. Use the command Arrowhead to add the arrows to the ends of the offseted curve:

Thank you so much! I will give this a try

And because all this are repetitive steps than can be reproduced, somebody with more scripting experience can write a script to do all this things with less clicks.

Hi Patrick -

As Macuso showed, there are ways to create those dimensions.
Apart from that, the feature request is on our list as RH-2250 Arc/Curve length dimension.
I’ve added this thread to that request.
