Switch to Read-Only Files

Lately, my files seem to be slipping into read-only as I am working on them.
Have there been any changes in the updates that would cause this?

That should only happen if the 3dm is already open. No recent changes in v6 service releases to my knowledge in this area. The next time it happens, can you check if you have any additional Rhino sessions open with that file already?

I am absolutely positive there are no other sessions open.
This is happening to 4 others in my department and only in the previous several weeks.

Okay, are you working with Linked Blocks or Worksessions?

We use linked blocks often.

To my knowledge a worksession is how you edit a linked block, is that correct?

If so, we also use worksessions.

I haven’t been able to reproduce the read only lock issue here so far using linked blocks and also worksession files. Here’s more info on both https://docs.mcneel.com/rhino/6/help/en-us/commands/worksession.htm and https://docs.mcneel.com/rhino/6/help/en-us/commands/block.htm but I’m wondering if maybe there is some network latency that isn’t reporting that a linked block has been edited and closed. You can double click a linked block to edit it independent of a worksession which attaches separate 3dm files. This opens an additional Rhino to do so though versus editing an embedded block with the ‘in place’ block editor. If the referenced linked block resides on a local network drive and multiple users access these, it might explain why this is happening.
