Hi!
I’m wondering if there is some way to orient surface on surface, if you doesn’t have any reference/target points. I have copied and moved the surface. Then I used extract wireframe and the used Surface from network. I rotated the surface a to make it more difficult to see, where the correct position is. Now I want to orient it to the original surface as close as possible. Is there any tool to do it? I mean by choosing both surfaces, Rhino finds the shapes which are similar…
Many years ago I used 3d laser scanner and then the software “found” the similar shapes and moved pieces to the correct position…
I don’t need this so much to buy any plugin, just wondering if Rhino can do it…
Not sure if this will be of any help, have you tried align objects. I just had it align objects to center and it moved your second object to the center of the original. Hard to tell what your trying to do from what you said above.
Most likely this was working for scanned meshes (parts) but not nurbs surfaces. I don`t think there is a fully automatic plugin to do it in rhino … yet.
But: If you built two dense meshes from both surfaces and individually import them into meshlab, there is a command to align the green surface (as a mesh), then import back to rhino and use the corner points to reorient the nurbs surface to it…
