SubD copy also, not only mirror?

Good evening,

Is it possible to add the option of having simple copies of a SubD updatig in real time, not only a mirrored copy?

Thank you!

of course… simply copy/ paste or drag + alt with gumball or use the copy command.

@theoutside , the copies should also update, when I update one , all should update… the way Reflect SubD updates, in real time.

do the copy with history on-

that will not work fully like reflect, only the parent can be changed if you want all the others to update. interesting would be indeed to have an option to make children parents at any time or to have them as a parent just like reflect acts right out the box.

addendum:
on a second thought you can of course make a block instance with the subd, BlockEdit then will let you modifiy any of the blocks which will update all the others.

@encephalon , yes switching from one copy to another to instantly edit would be the best.

copy works with history.

my mistake, you are right @theoutside

Block doens’t update in real time:
My previous post regarding blocks:

thats the closest you can get, for now take it or leave it i am afraid, reading through that post i guess @mary has a good point, that might dump the performance i assume but i am not a computer scientist, if that could be a multithreaded operation why not… generally a copy that allows updates like reflect does would be maybe a better choice i have no idea about the implications, but maybe @theoutside is so kind to write up that wish

I’m not a computer scientist either, but I imagine, when using grasshopper to modify geometry , it works, even with complex geometry… so why not in Rhino…
