Strange surfacing

Hi everybody,
I’m surprised about the citroen c5 aircross concept, it looks like the edge I highlighted isn’t even g1. I can’t understand that. The brand must have class A modelers, so why ?

What, you think it’s a mistake and not on purpose? It’s French.

I think it’s intentional

No I think it’s intentional, but i ve never seen it on another car, reflexions always look continuous

Lots of cars have sharp creases, it’s just a slightly odd spot.

Visit France and you know why. Almost every car I see around here has those creases. I think they did that so the user doesn’t have to worry adding more.

They have several models like that it’s intentional.

you mean that they bumped into objects?
Most French people are a bit more relaxed when they hit something.

Never like Italians

(Early) Concept studies are almost always done by designers and won’t even enter the technical surfacing stage. How technically correct such a study looks really depends on the skill of the designers involved. Usually junior designers are doing the major work here, because it is believed that they bring fresh ideas into the vehicle design. At least this is from my past experience. On the other hand, sometimes studies looks better in overall design, since they don’t follow any technical requirements.

better than this horrible thing for sure

by the way this image seems to come from an AI, I’m seeing a lot of car concept designers using it

indeed, never understood how that passed the board

put differently, class A surfacing is important until the car leaves the showroom. Indeed a car is a little less sacred around here it seems.
