Strange material behavior - reflecting, when it should not

Dear all,

do you have any tips regarding this strange Render / Raytrace behavior?

Using ViewCaptureToFile I get this result:

which is correct. But I want to add “Fog” post effect, so I must render the image.

But when rendering, this strange green reflection appears:

When trying to resolve, I found out, the green reflection does NOT apper, when i hide “grass” (surface with green material) As seen bellow:

So it has to be somehow related to the “grass” material. Am I wrong? But it´s settings are pretty basic:

Same as the “facade” material:

Or is it somehow connected with lights?

Please help me - how to get rid of this “green hue” “reflection” thing?

Thank You in advance!

To me looks like you have fog post effect turned on. Turn all post effects off to see if that gives what you see in Raytraced viewport.

@nathanletwory Here, without any post effects, problem still persist:

But when rendering with “Legacy Rhino render” instead of “Rhino render”, problem does not appear.

To me looks like some kind of problem with raytracing.

Please share the file so I can investigate. If you don’t want to or can’t share it on the forum then please use Rhino - Upload to Support to upload - my e-mail address is prefilled. I’ll receive a notification once the upload has successfully completed.

I sent the file using Your link. Thank You very much!

What you are seeing is the light bouncing of the green plane you use for ground. Since the green you use on your ground is so bright it’ll be much more pronounced.

There are some things you could try to lessen the effect:

  • change the ground material and facade materials to PBR and drop their roughness to 0.5. On the facade add speculaity control and drop that to 0.05 or so
  • pick a darker green for the ground material

Note there is still diffuse light bouncing going on - the green still splashes on the building side, and on the chairs for instance.

If you don’t want indirect lighting at all you can turn diffuse bounces to 0

@nathanletwory You are correct, “Diffuse” set to “0” did the trick.

Thank You once again, I am very pleased with Rhino support team. Thumbs up.
