Silhouette telegraphing on thin parts?

I’m using Rhino 8. When I use a display mode with Silhouette or Edges enabled, I get these telegraphing curves in areas where the part is thin. For refernce - the part shown has shallow holes on the back side for potted inserts. These holes seem to be telegraphing through the visible surface. These artifacts disappear if I zoom in on the part, but when I zoom out to get a wider view, they become more prevalent. Is there a depth or tolerance setting for Silhouette or Edges that I can adjust to eliminate this telegraphing?

can you post the .3dm file ? - or a minimal sample file that shows the Issue ?
some guesses:

  • update your graphic card driver
  • set a custom more dense, more precise render mesh
  • check if your part is far from origin

workaround - do a part without the pockets / holes to get the desired rendering / view / picture.

post your _systemInfo if some of the developers are having a look at this topic this might help.

Thank you for the reply and suggestions. The part is located very far from the origin - part of a boat or train. Everything we do has to be in specific coordinates. This way sharing models with other programs, is easier. We import a lot of engineering data with these type of backside details. This issue is exasperated with complex scenes with muliple parts (viewing down the aisle of a train).

I will look into the mesh density.

Here is a sample part with shallow holes on the back side. Silhouettes are turned on. This also happens when Edges are turned on.
