ShowEdges Glitches

I need to do some “un-boolean” on customer s data.
_unjoinEdge and _showEdges

(1)
but _showEdges fails to highlight some edges.

showedges_fails.3dm (3.2 MB)

some drawing order issue ?
should _showEdge check the current Surface-Edge thickness and add at least 1 px more ?

(2)
select object
_showEdges
input / focus is lost not on the commandline anymore…
one of those annoying extra-clicks are needed

(using parallel-projection)

thanks for a fix

@Tom_P I downloaded your file and ShowEdges appears to be working correctly for me in both perspective and parallel projection modes. When I have “Naked edges” selected I only see the naked (not joined) edges and when I have “All edges” selected I see all the edges.

Have you customized the display mode?

no - i checked it before posting … might be a mac os x issue.

i tried to construct a new / custom geometry - but the new geometry worked correctly.

thanks for having a look at the issue.

kind regards - tom

I see what you mean, when selecting only the outer polysurface. Not sure if something can be done about it. ShowEdges has depth testing, it is not simply a DrawOverlay. Since the edges of both polysurfaces are coincident, they’ll just fight for their existence. Even when setting the surface edges to 1 pixel it will not fully solve this issue.
Edit: seems a little better on Win

RH-89687 ShowEdges: some edges not or hardly visible

thanks for having a look at it.

i thought the display drawing action done by showedges should be 1 or 2 pixel wider then the current edge setting of the acitve display mode…
not making edges less … but make showedges stronger…
;-( ?

RH-89687 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 25
