Shaded view displaying texture

Using a mesh exported from Faro Scene and imported as an OBJ, the model is still textured when switching to shaded or any other display mode. This behavior is unique to a mesh model from Faro Scene and does not happen with a mesh from Artec Studio.
How do I turn off the texture when in shaded view or a non-rendered view?

Hello- I guess the mesh has vertex colors - see if un-checking this in the Display panel sorts it out:

I have this tick box unticked and the texture still shows in shaded view

Hi John -

Can you post (or upload) a small sample in the original OBJ format?

Have you tried

Hi Wim, I have not sent over a small section that is saved as a rhino file.obj, I guess this works as you will see texture displayed in shaded view

Hi Martin, thank ou for the suggestion. I’ve tried this and the issue still persists.

Hi @jaybee63 ,

We received your file. The only workaround I’m seeing is to save the file out as an STL which can’t hold vertex color info. This STL when imported or opened in Rhino will shade with the layer color as expected. I’m not sure why the Faro produced OBJ has this permanent vertex color info, it’s almost like there are two sets of vertex colors as you can see a slight difference when toggling that display mode setting when in Shaded.

I would look for settings that you could experiment with in the export from Faro as OBJ and also see if other file formats work better from that scanner for what you want. You might want to ask the Faro folks as well if they have heard of this issue.

I hope that helps.
