Saving toolbar icons in the WIP seems a little flaky

I’m in the process of replacing icons in my old V7 toolbar so that it can be re-saved in V8 as SVG format icons. It’s actually a pretty straightforward process, but I notice that some icons just won’t stick. I’m saving the changes to the linked file using this:

Has anyone else noticed that old icons just don’t want to be replaced?

I’m guessing I’m missing something here as this should be a simple process.

Thanks,

Dan

It seems that the icons that are refusing to save are ones that I made from scratch. There must be more to it than I realize. Time to move on to something else. This is just an exercise in futility at this point.

hi @DanBayn I tried to reproduce this issue, but couldn’t. What I did:

Open Rhino 7
Take one of my custom .rui files and save it to a new .rui
Link to file in Rhino 8
Edit a couple of icons to replace with an SVG

Both closing Rhino at this point, and “save changes to linked file” saves the changes I made.

This is a daily build and since lot’s of changes are happening right now, it could be that this is fixed for the next public build.

Hi Gijs,

Your process is very close to mine. Did you make the new icons from scratch in Rhino 8? I find those are the troublesome ones. The ones I replaced with existing SVG icons (out of the existing library) behave correctly.

I will try again when the next release comes out.

Thanks,

Dan

edit: I will attach a couple of my homemade icons. These ones just won’t stick.

Yes I did, and yours work too, but I do see a lot of other funky things happening at the moment.

I took a look at the RUI in notepad++ and I noticed thousands of lines of this:

I have no idea if that’s normal, but maybe it’s not, and maybe that’s part of the issue? FYI… my V7 rui has these lines too. My V8 rui is based off of that one. Maybe there’s a clue here?

Thanks,

Dan

Today’s WIP seems to have solved the issue. All of the icons I am adding are saving now.

Thanks,

Dan
