Saving a Gradient Hatch for future use / share all using Rhino

Title says it all, I use one specific gradient hatch for a lot of work. I cant seem to export it to share with my co workers and I cant seem to save it. The documentation states that I can import hatches as a .3dm or .pat file. When I saved a test hatch to a rectangular curve and imported it it did not seem to carry over. Untimely I would like to add it to my hatch library as we use them very frequently. Apologies if this is a novice question I cant seem to find a straight forward answer. I am well versed in the Rhino Python API Ill be combing threw that now, just wanted to see if anyone had a more immediate solution.
