Hello,
I just learned a shortcut on YOUTUBE but it doesn’t work when I try it. Control Shift RMB should orbit but also snap to a certain view (front/top/back/etc…) which would be handy but it doesn’t snap to any views for me. It just puts me in full orbit mode and I can’t lock in a standard view.
I am on a wacom tablet if that makes a difference. Is there a setting I can change to make this work? thank you.
Hi @lilabaghzouz
It’s one of those slightly tricky keyboard shortcuts, that - once you get it down - becomes second nature, but is almost impossible to explain in writing or without the mouse in hand… but here goes:
a) Start rotating the perspective viewport by RMB-click’n’hold as usual
b) Now press and hold Ctrl
c) Then press and hold Shift - and the viewport will now “snap” to the nearest parallel projection and hold it as long as you keep both Ctrl and Shift pressed.
d) If you release Shift, but keep Ctrl pressed, the viewport returns to perspective projection and rotation
d) If you release RMB first - and then release Ctrl+Shift - the viewport will stay in the parallel projection.
e) You can “break” the parallel projection by holding Ctrl+Shift and then RMB-click’n’hold and drag - this will resume perspective viewport rotation.
Do note that every time you do this jump from perspective to parallel to perspective, the lens length is reset to 50mm - which is one of those things I wish could be changed, so that instead it would return to the previous lens length.
