When I right click the perspective view port for the drop down menu, nothing happens. Just started learning through Lynda tutorials, so i’m totally new.

It should be left click to select a menu item.
A right click is not working at all on the viewport title for you? You can also get the same stuff dropping down from the main View menu IIRC, but as far as I can tell from the Help, right clicking on the viewport title should work.
