I am using Rhino 8 on Mac. I am lookging to do a bas-relief from a DWG line. It has to be spherical (like the pic). I used filet from network but it’s not the best way.
I saw there is a pluggin called Rhinoemboss, but it look from a long time ago and also just for Windows.
Is there any way to do it in a faster way or a pluggin similar to Rhinoemboss ?
patch is really a good method for simple shapes, but it tends to do bulges at parts where more area converges, which is a good thing for natural organic shapes but sometimes not wanted, stiffness gets that under control to some degree in combination with a higher resolution.
for a more homogenous result you could alternatively experiment with heightfield.
for this create hatches with your curve to fill them up. export them to photoshop via ViewCaptureToClipboard for instance which lets you paste the result, photoshop automatically detects your resolution. after importing i would scale it to something more manageable
in photoshop cmd click on the layer that will automatically outline the shape which will contain the filter then use gaussian blur. alternatively you could use the 3d effects from photoshop and generate a relief.
then go to rhino use the command Heightfield, use the generated image and set it to the resolution you have in your image.
use the command smooth since the heighfield might be a bit coarse the trim off what you dont need with the input curves from the beginning for instance, or keep it on one plane as you need.
Thank you very much for your help. I tried with heighfield but it look like it’s too much precise for the toes…
i tried with 2 different pics, here is the result…
