Rhino8 not Reading Annotations from DWG

I make what I call part files. I model assemblies in rhino, then I pull out each individual part from the model and save them as 2d .dwg files. I do this because I need to get each part machined on a 3-axis router from aluminum plate stock. All of my annotations use a single line font to save time on the router. Everything has always worked smoothly using Rhino7 and exporting as .dwg with the default scheme. When I open the .dwg files with Rhino7, everything is exactly as the same from when I saved it.

I just got Rhino8, and this problem is driving me crazy. So far I’ve had two different things happen. When I save from Rhino8 as a .dwg, everything is fine so as long as I open the .dwg with Rhino7. When I open with Rhino8 either the annotations are not read and opened with the file, or they are but with a different style than what I saved it with.

Say I open a .dwg with Rhino7 and confirm the annotations are correct, then open the same file with Rhino8 and the annotations are not there, then save over from Rhino8 to .dwg, when I open the file again with Rhino7 or 8 the annotations are not in the file at all.

In short, I can’t get Rhino8 to open annotations from .dwg files, either correctly but most times, at all.

Hi James,

Please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and post the result.

Do you have a small example file demonstrating the behavior? Thanks

It sounds similar to this issue

So here I opened the same .dwg in Rhino and saved as .dwg in both 7 and 8. Both files have annotations in R7 when I open them and both do not have annotations when opened in R8.

I’m hoping it’s something really simple and that I’m just too ignorant to know how to fix it. I’d really like to be able to unistall R7 and just rely and R8 because that’s kinda why I bought it. But I can’t do that until I figure this out.

I think that is related to the youtrack above, can you post the 3dm as well? i would like to do some additional testing.
