Hi. I’m using rhino 8.1 and When I Rotate viewport or pan it, It keeps stopping and moving again like a short freeze. It was so smoother in rhino 7. Could you please tell me how to fix this.
Thank you.
Hi Saho - can you please post the results of the SystemInfo
command in Rhino? Do you see this with any file?
-Pascal
Hi . Yes I do. I see this with any files. In my both pc and may laptop.

@BrianJ - is this similar to what you reported?
-Pascal
Yes it is.
Yes.
@Saho If the Properties panel is not visible, does this happen for you?
No it doesn’t. I didn’t see the problem.
But with properties panel visible The problem persists.
Does the visible properties panel affect the performance?
Thanks for confirming that, I am working with the developers on our end to try and get this fixed. The Properties panel shouldn’t cause this and I wanted to check if you see the issue fixed when it’s hidden. This helps us focus in on the actual cause, thanks again.
you’re welcome .
Thank you very much for your great support.
I am truly grateful for your consideration.

Hi, I have a very similar problem. Working with such lag is driving me crazy
Rhino 7 works pretty much the same as Rhino 8.3.
(If it’s something else please split the topic)

You can see that selecting some object before viewport panning helps. Interestingly, it seems that the smaller the selected object, the smoother everything works. If I have a small object selected panning and orbiting around the model is very smooth.
In the video, inside the polysurface, there are 2700 blocks that are shrinkwrapped geometries from Revit. I’ve sent this file to the support.
I was asked to close the properties Panel but this did not help.
It’s always much easier to feel it when you pan the viewport yourself, but I hope it’s visible in the video too.

Ok, now it become urgent for me and it’s more than a PITA.
BTW I’m using Rhino 8.6.24074.1001 and this problem still exists.

Hi @Czaja ,
What you are experiencing may be a different issue than what has been fixed in the 8.6 SRC. I found your uploaded model to us from back in Dec. and so far I can’t reproduce a display lag. Did you ever try disabling the additional plugins to test and see if they were involved? I’d also recommend updating the GPU drivers from Nvidia too. I’ve found Windows 11 can require that for Rhino 8.
Hi, It boiled down to the 3D connexion 3D Mouse plugin. I have a 3D Connexion, but on my current laptop, I didn’t install any drivers for it because I’m not using it regularly. However, SpaceMouse works in Rhino nonetheless. If I’m not mistaken this Rhino plugin is developed by McNeel staff, right?
Disabling it resolved the issue that was occurring while using just a regular mouse to navigate (SpaceMouse wasn’t even turned on).
No, it is not developed by us but by 3DConnexion themselves.
Ah, sorry, maybe at least I’m right about that it is shipped with Rhino? Because it is installed on my work computer also. I thought this plugin was McNeel’s effort to make this device work better. Anyway… if you wish, you can report this thing to the 3D Connexion, maybe they will give it a higher priority than if it was me.
