Rhino taking forever to start up

I’ve been using Rhino for over 2 years, and it usually starts up very quickly. In the past, the second I open Rhino, the window pops up. It may still load for a period of time depending on the file size, but Rhino itself is immediately open. Lately (since mid August), there is a sever lag between when I open Rhino and when Rhino actually starts up. At least 5 sec, sometimes closer to 15 sec. This is in addition to the load time required for the actual file I’m opening. So, I open Rhino, nothing happens for at least 5 sec (there are no visual ques or indication that I even opened the program), then Rhino opens, then the file loads. This is NOT an issue for any other programs on my computer, including the Adobe Suite and Revit, which makes me think it’s an issue with Rhino. Is that the case? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Hi Liam,

Please run SystemInfo in the Rhino Command line and paste your results here.

Does it open up snappy in SafeMode? (type safemode in windows start) safe mode opens with no drivers or plugins.

If you start Rhino with the -stopwatch argument, you will get a report of what is taking up time during start up. Here is a discussion on using -stopwatch

Yes, the excessive lag is gone when I open in Safe Mode.

Ok, a couple things to try.

Verify than your Rhino is still in High Performance mode when unplugged Soooo, you bought a laptop with hybrid graphics and rhino doesn't run right. READ THIS

Go to Properties>Plug-ins> Filter by Plugins that do not ship with Rhino, disable the 3rd party plugins and restart Rhino.

try -Stopwatch that steve suggested.
