Rhino spontaneously deletes everything

Hi,
I don’t know what’s going on but twice now Rhino has freaked out and then every object just disappears and I can’t get anything back. “Undo” does nothing, and saving and re-opening just re-opens an empty file. My layers and viewports are all still there, but just all of the objects are gone. I don’t know what is causing this. The first time, I was able to recover most of the work with the last auto-save, but today it turned out that it never autosaved for some reason, so I lost several hours worth of work. Has anyone else experienced this?
-Lia

Check the Recycle Bin; there should be an auto-save file; RhinoAutosave.3dm

Thank you for the tip!

Hi Lia -

Please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and copy/paste the results here.

Hello, I’ve had this exact problem and restoring the file from the Recycle bin only gave me a file with the same problem. Here is System info @pascal :

Hi Jen, first of all check the file size. If the file is empty for objects then the file size should be quite small (unless you have tons of materials in there)

Then check that no objects are isolated or hidden.

If possible please attach the rhino file.

Hi Jen - the next time you see this happen, please stop and do two things:

  1. SelNone followed by SelAll
  2. F2 to open CommandHistory and copy/paste the whole lot into a text file or directly into your post here.

Other things to consider - you have several non-default p[lug-ins - plug-ins can get involved in unpredictable ways sometimes with Rhino’s behavior. If what you describe happens with any regularity, I would disable all of the plug-ins listed in SystemInfo as ‘Plug-ins that do not ship with Rhino’. This is done in OPtions > Plug-ins page by Un-checking ‘Enabled’ . When enabling or disabling, you must complete the process by closing and reopening the Rhino app.

If the problem goes away, you can start re-enabling plug-ins until it shows up again.
