If you are generating raster output, it is a matter of the compression levels that Rhino PDF uses for images compared to what other PDF printer drivers use. If you are satisfied with the quality of the other PDF printer drivers why not just use those?
@stevebaer I prefer RhinoPDF as it has better integration and requires less interaction to create the file. From your response, it seems that RhinoPDF compression has changed from V6 to V7. I am guessing that there is no user setting to control the compression. I have looked in Options, but cannot find any related settings. I need to find a solution, as the V7 files are far too big.
I found this discussion. RhinoPDF raster compression control - #4 by jdelavaulx
I tried 300 DPI and 150 DPI. As expected, the file sizes are significantly smaller, but the V7 files are still significantly larger than the V6 files.
Is there any way to control the compression?

No, there is not. I can add this to the wishlist, but it will not be implemented in V7 as V8 is now the current version that we work on.
@stevebaer That would be good. Thank you for your help.

hope we see it in v8. to have control over the very basic settings affecting result is paramount
@stevebaer The oversized files gremlin appears to be in V7 only. I have installed V8 on trial, and its pdf generated via RhinoPDF is marginally bigger than the equivalent V6 file - 47,530 KB vs 44,660 KB.
The difference is possibly due to the lines being thicker by default in V8. I have not had time to change the settings.
