Rhino on 13 inch MacBook Pro

Hey ya’ll,

Anyone using the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Rhino?

I’m in the market for a new laptop and am looking at the 13 inch MacBook Pro. It’s has an i5 dual core processor and 8 GB of RAM, but it does not have a dedicated graphics card (comes standard with the Intel Iris Plus 640).

I’m an architect/designer and I’d like to use the machine to work on some medium-sized models with ease - no chugging, delays etc etc.

Would love any insight from users working on the 13-inch pro!!

Thanks so much.

Hi,
I was using Rhinomac before on macbook pro retina 13. Dual core with 8GB, no dedicated gpu.
For general modelling I didn’t find it slow but I guess it depends on what you consider medium size project…
But the screen is quite small for real work, it felt more of learning pc and a secondary if you have a
desktop.
Especially the rendering is slow With rhino render it seems relatively ok, but to output in printable size might be slow. And during render you can’t do much else…
Other renderer might take hours so not practical for work.
I’d recommend a desktop mac even if it’s older model…
Also external GPU seems popping up in market so maybe if that works, laptop+egpu+external display might be good as well.
I was considering this, but I turned over to win rhino as I wanted to use plugins and the above setup was quite expensive at the time and felt in future if I want to get a desktop, windows would be more flexible to upgrade.
