Rhino lost decal paths

Hi,
Rhino 7 SR13 2021-12-14 (Rhino 7, 7.13.21348.13001
After updating today Rhino lost my decal paths and I saved the file before I noticed. I didn’t change the directories or even change any decals for a few weeks but all of a sudden Rhino can’t find them. I did attach one file via a worksession and that file had a decal in it but that decal showed up while the ones in the active file are now gone.
There isn’t even a hint of a name. This is just one object in the image but I have a bunch of objects with decals that are now lost.
RM

if you remap them and save (with save textures checked) , do they stay attached?

RefreshAllTextures command may help.

Hi @theoutside
Thanks for the suggestion but how do I reattach if I don’t know which files they are since no names are displayed? Anyway I had another file that wasn’t corrupted by Rhino and I was able to get my decals back.

More disconcerting is why this is happening? But I’m beginning to see why which I’ll address in another post but it has to do with worksessions and the mess that Rhino is making with materials when one uses worksessions.
RM

In the decal dialog, is there not a name on the decal with an x thru it?

No
RM

Same thing happens to me randomly. Sometimes they are lost overnight after shutting computer off, sometimes after exiting Rhino and sometimes decals remain as they should.
Generally, I can select the object, go to the decal tab, then scroll down to “click to assign texture”, reselect the decal then it reappears. Rather a pain if I have several decals.
This has been happening since July when I asked for help.
thanks,
Glenn

Hi RM - do you use VRay? I see Glenn does have Vray and reports similar problems.

-Pascal

Pascal,
Why would Vray affect Rhino decal file path?
Glenn

Hi Glenn - I don’t know that it would but plug-ins have a way of making seemingly unrelated things go south, so I would eliminate this first, if it is a common factor.

Hi Pascal,
I don’t have Vray for Rhino installed nor use it in Rhino I use cycles when in Rhino. I do have Vray for 3dstudio max.

@pascal
Hi Pascal,
Any more ideas since 3dsynergy doesn’t use or have Vray?
Thanks,
Glenn
