I’ve been using your importer for Blender and it’s working really well it’s very efficient preserving the layer structure and adding them to collections. Really nice work can’t thank you enough as my workflow has changed from Max to Blender and unreal but Rhino is still my favorite modeling software.
Do you foresee making a live link for Blender? 3dcoat has one that works well with blender. It’s nice having the update option which is the only thing I miss on your importer.
Ideally Rhino.Inside would work with Blender, I’d use that. I haven’t looked into that in quite some time, though. Last time I tried it long ago had Rhino crash Blender. Perhaps I should have another go at some point.
Is it possible to add textures to your importer plugin for Blender? Currently no textures come in with it and since your the cycles person I hoped that pbr from Rhino would convert to Blender materials but sadly no go.
On another thing I found that FBX from rhino to blender is flawed/bugged some materials only show up with an ao map and a normal map. I tried both phong and lambert options and same thing happens.
This is why I love using the live link from 3dcoat as textures and layer structures come in perfectly. It would be great to get at least the Rhino exporter working so that textures export with the models.
Once the rhino3dm package is properly updated to be based on Rhino 8 I can do that. With the version I am currently using there is no way to get embedded textures out.
The Blender license should require open-sourcing plugins, so perhaps you could look into the Plasticity live-bridge, because something like this is what everyone using Blender is asking for.
